This color is so extremely rad!
I basically love this color so much that I now want to wear it all the time. 🙂 Hahaha, just kidding. But I do really love this color. I am trying to get better at taking pictures, too, so hopefully these swatches become even more beautiful and color accurate.
Swatch: 3 coats IBD Just Gel Polish Funny Bone
This is a beautiful pink cream. I’ve been having issues with peeling lately. I’m pretty sure it’s because I stopped buffing my nails before I put the polish on. I stopped several months ago and I have only had problems the last 3 manicures. Soooo, I’m going to start buffing my nails again. However, I’ll only buff them every other manicure. Hopefully that keeps them buffed enough for the color to stick, but also non-buffed enough that it doesn’t ruin my nails. We’ll see how it goes.
BTW, you might notice a black-ish dot on my index finger. That is the lovely scab from where I sewed a needle through my finger. Yes, it is as painful as it sounds. Anyway, you can see because of the scab that this color is not 100% opaque. However, it does look completely opaque as far as the nail line goes. But in case you have a scab from sewing a needle through your finger, or something else ridiculous like that, it will show through just slightly.
Fading: I don’t actually know why I’m including this category because I haven’t had any fading issues at all except with the IBD Just Gel Road to Paris. So yeah, no fading of IBD Funny Bone. I might show you my fun Easter manicure later, but some of it did peel, which I already mentioned. Hopefully I can get the peeling remedied once I start buffing again.
I got this color as a gift and I have to say I am so glad it was a gift! And I mean that in a good way. I never would have thought to buy this color. I don’t usually wear greens because they look bad with my skin tone. So, when I saw that I got this color as a gift, I wasn’t sure if I would like it. Luckily I don’t just like it, I love it. It’s a beautiful green that does make my skin look a little yellow, but strangely, not in an unpleasant way. I’m not sure how that works, but I truly do love this color.
Swatch: 3 coats IBD Green Monster
I would describe this color as a forest green with a dusty blue undertone. It is really beautiful, but hard to describe. It does look just a little bit lighter than the picture shows. And it looks just a bit more green than the picture on the nail polish bottle. I was really pleased with the application of this polish. It wasn’t too thin or sheer or runny or anything. I do usually do 3 coats of polish rather than 2. I find that the IBD polish needs 3 coats at least for full opacity. This might bother some people, but the price point of IBD makes me happy to do a few more coats rather than buying a much more expensive polish that has more opacity. Overall I am quite pleased with this color and excited to be wearing it for St. Patrick’s Day.
Fading: I’ve only been wearing this color for 2 days now and have nothing negative to report. I’ll try to update this next time I put up a new swatch since by then I will have worn it for two weeks. I haven’t noticed fading with any of my other IBD colors though, except IBD Road to Paris so this one probably won’t have any fading issues either.
I guess the best way to start this lil’ ol’ blog of mine is with a nail polish swatch. This beauty is IBD Road to Paris. It was on my wish list for a long time. It’s a beautiful pink shimmer with a purple undertone. The shimmer is almost a copper color and it is so pretty.
This nail polish is pretty sheer. I knew this beforehand so I made sure to do a coat of white as a base. I think it does a good job of making the road to paris look more opaque, but honestly I wish I had done 4 coats of road to paris instead of just 3.
Fading: I haven’t noticed any type of fading on my nails and I’ve been wearing it for almost two weeks as of today. However, I also have it on my toenails and it has faded to an almost brown color. I guess the copper shimmer becomes stronger over time? I’m not really sure, but my sister-in-law has this same color and after a week it looked brown on her too. I don’t know if my nails were spared the color changing because of my white base, but I am grateful because this color is beautiful. Definitely a keeper.
So, I have this dream of having a nail polish and clothing blog. Maybe something will come of it and maybe not. For now, I’m just going to start posting nail polish swatches and occasionally outfit posts. Maybe I’ll put in videos of how to do nail art. Making money would be nice, but I already know how hard that is. For now, this will just be for fun.
